IWBBIO 2026 provided a dynamic environment for scientific exchange and the development of new collaborations among researchers working at the interface of bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, and life sciences. The conference covered topics including data integration, genomics and next-generation sequencing, medical informatics and translational bioinformatics, computational systems biology, modeling and simulation, and their applications in the life sciences.
Irina opened the conference by presenting the paper entitled “Descriptive Analysis of a Thyroid Cancer Subtypes Dataset in a Romanian Cohort for Clinical Decision Support Systems.” The work presented a descriptive analysis of a thyroid cancer dataset comprising electronic medical records from a Romanian cohort at the National Institute of Endocrinology “C.I. Parhon” (NIE C.I. Parhon), collected between January 2022 and May 2024. The presented results were generated within the framework of the eBio-hub project and contribute to its research activities in biomedical data analysis and the development of data-driven approaches to support clinical decision-making.
In recognition of her scientific expertise, Irina was also invited to serve as Session Chair on the second day of the conference for the session “Computational Systems for Modeling Biological Processes.” Her participation in IWBBIO 2026 supported the dissemination of eBio-hub research outcomes, international knowledge exchange, and the establishment of new scientific connections relevant to the project’s research activities.
