ABOUT

ABOUT

eBio-hub is an interdisciplinary research team consisting of highly skilled researchers, led by the Chair holder, an outstanding researcher and research manager with world-class credentials. eBio-hub team targets state-of-the-art research in biomedical engineering, by leveraging knowledges, resources and expertise from different disciplines with the main goal of translating the novel laboratory outcomes into commercially viable medical products. The establishment of eBio-hub in the new CAMPUS and Center INOVABIOMED, (University Politehnica of Bucharest) offers access to state-of-the art research infrastructure in biomedical engineering that is supported with the existing IMT’s equipment for micro- and nanotechnologies and clinical and medical research facilities from NIE “C.I. Parhon”.

mission

MISSION

Our mission is to unlock and foster excellent research in biomedical engineering, capitalizing the existing knowledge in UPB and integrating with local research and clinical expertise from University of Bucharest, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy and local hospitals as well as making use of the newly created research infrastructure (INOVABIOMED) by setting up a strong research group and attracting top academics in the field, rising the competitiveness of UPB research in the European Research Area (ERA).

vision

VISION

Our vision is to establish an interdisciplinary research centre that works at the interface between chemistry, biology, IT, micro- and nanotechnology, and medicine, designed to develop micro-, nano- and bio-integrated solutions for approaching the major global challenging. The aim of the eBio-hub research centre is to increase the attractiveness and impact of the University “Politehnica” of Bucharest through research excellence (illustrated quantitatively and qualitatively through indicators such as publications in peer reviewed journals, national and international collaboration or grants), to contribute toward the growth of Romanian and EU economy by attracting and nurturing research talents, creating portfolios of intellectual properties, supporting the local industry or commercializing new technologies.

strategy

STRATEGY

Our strategy is to set an example by implementing organizational innovations within eBio-hub. It will include research and develop interdisciplinary research at the interface between engineering and biomedical fields and collaborate with three clinical units such as National Institute of Endocrinology “C.I Parhon”, UMF and Emergency University Hospital of Bucharest (through specific projects) and Center of Technological Transfer (CTT) of UPB for industrial collaborations and technological transfers. The interdisciplinary team includes members from different research entities who contribute with their knowledge and access to existing resources (laboratory equipment and the existing network collaborations and research partnerships in Romania and abroad).
