Ana-Maria ZAMFIRESCU

Dr. Ana-Maria Zamfirescu is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Biology and Microbiology at the eBio-hub Research Centre, University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania. With a PhD in Regenerative Sciences from Medical School Hannover, Germany (2024), funded by a DAAD bursary, and an MRes in Neuroscience (2020) and BSc in Biochemistry (2019) from Newcastle University and University of Essex, UK, respectively, Dr. Zamfirescu brings a multidisciplinary perspective to biomedical engineering. During her PhD, she explored stem cell niche formation as a driver of organogenesis in Drosophila melanogaster, employing genetic manipulation, fluorescent microscopy, and bioinformatics.Currently, Dr. Zamfirescu leads the project “3D-Printed Hybrid Microfluidic Nanochip for Early Detection of Type 2 Diabetes,” developing a low-cost, scalable tool integrating inertial microfluidics and affinity capture to isolate exosomes from human plasma for preclinical T2D screening. Her research interests span microfluidics, exosome diagnostics, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. With more than 5 years of research and participation at international conferences, Dr. Zamfirescu aims to advance biomedical innovation.
