Dr. Bianca-Maria Tihăuan is a scientific researcher CS III and currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in Cellular and Molecular Biology at eBio-hub Research Centre, National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, Romania. Dr. Tihăuan has gained her research experience working within private and academic sectors in Biotechnology, focusing mainly on novel approaches in developing antimicrobials, protein-based therapeutics, development of scaffolds for tissue engineering, wound healing, in vitro and ex vivo cell culturing, development of regenerative hydrogels and cosmeceuticals, with active imput from preliminary development, and ending with extensive testing of efficacy. She received her PhD in Biology in 2021 from the University of Bucharest. After finishing her PhD, she won a Postdoctoral fellowship in the UEFISCDI funded PD national competition which she successfully finalized with significant results in scar and wound healing therapies (PD75/2022). In 2022, she was also granted a Young Researchers Award from the University of Bucharest. Her scientific background and experience was acquired by participating in >10 national and international research projects, either as a PI, team leader, or member or by partnerships with research institutions from Romania and EU. These collaborations lead to publication of >25 research papers, and 7 national patent applications.
Her research focuses are: biomimetic in vitro and ex-vivo cellular models, cellular systems for drug screening, wound healing and regenerative medicine, smart therapeutics and precision medicine by transdermal drug-delivery systems, controlled release systems of antimicrobials, biological efficacy evaluations, standardization and legislative compliance of novel therapeutics.
