Dr Amarachi Rosemary Osi is a postdoctoral researcher in the eBio-hub European project, which conducts its research activities at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnologies, University Politehnicaof Bucharest (UPB). In 2021, she earned her Ph.D degree in polymer chemistry and physics from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing and Ningbo Institute of Material Technology and Engineering, Ningbo, P.R. China. She is a recipient of both national and international scholarships. She was awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship, MOFCOM, in 2015, to complete her Masters studies in Biomedical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, P.R. China. In 2017, she received the CASTWAS scholarship to carry out her PhD research, where she demonstrated a novel approach to develop printable and strong biomaterial inks by blending methacrylated chitosan with gelatin methacrylate and hydroxyapatite (Hap).
Her overall focus is in creating new 3D tissue substitutes using scaffolds that are engineered from biomaterials native to the human body for improving disease treatment and the quality of life for patients. Her research interests include design and development of polymers as injectable hydrogels, 3D bioprinting, stem cells, biomaterial-cell interaction and tissue engineering, wound repair, nanocomposites for bone and osteochondral regeneration.
