Dr. Florina Silvia Iliescu has a medical background, from a nursing and medical doctor (MD) to a PhD in medicine, applied to research and biomedical and bioengineering education. Her expertise includes healthcare-centred teaching and research, relevant coaching/mentoring, curriculum design, and laboratory set-up with over 12 years of experience in biomedical higher education and research in Singapore (2005-2020). The research focuses on the biomedical-applied-to-microtechnology domain for patient care and point-of-care personalised medicine. Knowledge from Anatomy and Physiology and Histopathology, Pharmacology and Patientcare to Education psychology supported biomedical- and education-based research projects (Singapore MOE Grants) such as microneedle-based transdermal drug delivery systems, personalised and IoT-based scale for early at home detection of body balance for better posture and biomechanics, or situational interest-based teaching pedagogy. Currently, she manages the Cellular Biology, Histophysiology - Anatomical Pathology modules for the Bioengineering undergrad courses (NUSTPB), and the Transdermal Drug Delivery Group at eBio-hub Research Centre NUSTPB.
