Deputy Project Director
Dr. Jana Ghitman, is a scientific researcher CS III in the Department of Bioresources and Polymer Science Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnologies and member of the Advanced Polymer Materials Group (APMG) from University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB). Dr. Ghitman is a multidisciplinary scientist who has developed research activities in the field of synthesis and characterization of (nano)composites based on various (bio)polymers with application in the field of drug delivery and tissue engineering. She received her PhD in the field of Chemical Engineering in December 2018. During her PhD, she has attended an internship “Assembly dynamics of DNA-based nanoparticles and microfluidics-directed synthesis” Universite Paris-Sud, Laboratoire de Physique des Solides, Orsay, France. Starting from 2015, Dr. Ghitman was actively involved in more than 10 national reaserch projects as member of the research team. After finishing her PhD, she won a PostDoc fellowship through the competition within the project POCU, SMIS code 124705, in Chemical Engineering. She was also the coordinator of a national project won within PNCDI III, „Novel DNA-activated 2D electrospun nanofibrous hybrid (bio)scaffolds based on graphene oxide-natural polymers with potential application in musculoskeletal disorders” DNA-BIOMATTER, project no. 83/2020.
Her main research focuses are: gene delivery systems, nanoparticulate carriers for efficient drug delivery, transdermal drug delivery, nanomedicine, hybrid/composite nanofibrous (bio)architectures formulated by electrospinning, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
